» Where Does Gerry Stand?“Georgia needs new leadership. Understanding insurance inside and out — nationally and at the state level — now becomes imperative in choosing Georgia’s next Insurance Commissioner. I am uniquely prepared to lead the battle for our state. I hope you’ll join me in our fight to make Georgia the free-market insurance model for the nation.” ~ Gerry Posted In: Issues, Leadership
I am thankful to have been trained in one of the greatest leadership laboratories in the world — the United States Army. Nothing tests one’s inner character and fortitude better than leading soldiers through difficult situations — knowing that their life and death is dependant upon your ability to make [...] We already have nationalized healthcare — a single payer — on 55% of the health care costs in the United States, and those systems (Medicare, SCHIP, Medicaid) aren’t working very efficiently. Some in Washington believe that by nationalizing the additional 45%, magically and mysteriously, it will become more efficient. I began my health care career as a licensed agent. I have a hands-on understanding of the vital role that agents provide to millions of Georgia’s consumers and thousands of our employers. I am profoundly disappointed by the actions of the Democrat-controlled Congress on the so-called “health care” legislation. We all support the right to spirited debate on the basis of principle. However, recent weeks have not been about principle, nor have they been about reform, but about the usurption of power instead. It’s never been clearer to me than throughout my campaign for Georgia Insurance Commissioner that those who led us into this mess are not the ones who will lead us out of it.
