Fighting Nationalized Health CareI am profoundly disappointed by the actions of the Democrat-controlled Congress on the so-called “health care” legislation. We all support the right to spirited debate on the basis of principle. However, recent weeks have not been about principle, nor have they been about reform, but about the usurption of power instead. We must empower consumers to make their own health care decisions with their providers, not have the government do it for them. We must fight, and we must fight hard. If I am honored to be elected as Georgia’s next Insurance Commissioner, I will help lead the battle:
We must take a serious look at government mandates. I don’t think there is a single person in the country that knows exactly how many mandates exist today. Analyzing which mandates provide useful and needed protections, and which mandates only add costs is a crucial step in repairing our health care system. We must have the ability to exempt some mandates to get more people covered, and we must have the flexibility to try new approaches. A government takeover is not a new approach; it is merely a recipe for failure. Understanding health care inside and out — nationally and at the state level — now becomes imperative in choosing Georgia’s next Insurance Commissioner. I am uniquely prepared to lead the battle for Georgia. Together, we can make health care affordable and accessible for all Georgians.
